We decided very last minute to make a trip down to California. A good friend of ours mom passed away and we wanted to be there for the funeral. We hurry and packed up, and made the 13 hour drive! Split into two days of course. While we were there we were able to celebrate the kids birthdays. Here are some of the highlights of the trip.
Big 6 year old!!
There is this really awesome park in Santa Barbara, we call it the turtle park. There is a huge wooden discovery playground and across the street is a huge pond full of fish and turtles. Mike loves to take the kids there and explore and find turtles.
There is a darling carousel at the beach by my parents house. The kids loved it of course. After the carousel we went to the zoo, but there are no pictures of that due to the kids being super cranky and tired, not picture worthy. :)
And of course the beach. We weren't planning on going in the water, it was kinda chilly. But the kids had other plans. They jumped right in in their clothes. Olivia loved it and I had to hold her back from running into the waves. I let go a few times so she could see for herself how scary it is when they knock you over, she did indeed get knocked over and loved it. backfire. You can imagine the sandy exploding diaper and mess we dealt with when we were done playing in the waves. Brings back memories of when I was kid, with out the sandy diaper.
And Pop Pop took the kids on a ride on his new scooter. Davis was quite the negotiator and got as many rides as possible. What fun memories!
While we went to the funeral, the kids stayed behind with Mike's sister Jenny and friend Dana. They went to the park and played. In the picture is Jennys cute little boy Josh. I love when they get time with their cousins!
So that was our whirlwind trip to California! There are no pictures of Davis birthday celebration because my camera broke. Just imagine lots of dollar store toys and arguing over who gets to play with them. Happy Birthday my sweet kiddies!!!
